This year as every year the time of advent is the time of waiting for the Silent night to come and with it Christmas. Let us take you on our Christmas journey.

We begin with Nun wandern wir wieder- once again we wander, as in every year, just in our imagination to the manger. We sing Gloria, Hallelujah to show our joy and try to describe the glory of this special child with songs like Beautiful saviour, This child and Jesus what a wonderful child.

The birth of Jesus is the reason for joy all over the world as you can hear in Joy to the world and Hallelujah, salvation and Glory. This Joy we want to share with one another in Wir zünden tausend Lichter an - we light a thousand candles because For unto us a child is born (his name is wonderful, a councillor, almighty god, the everlasting father and prince of peace).

Mein Herz ist voller Liebe My heart is overflowing with love is a song about the love we feel for our saviour. This song is a Norwegian Christmas song written in the 16th century and arranged in modern form by T.W. Aas. The song Marias Weise Marys song describes what Mary might have thought and felt in a situation that - 2000 years ago - would not have been easy, but also from a mothers or fathers point of view, which will always see the miracle in the birth of a child. With Silent night we finally reach our destination, Christmas Eve, which we celebrate as in every year.

As you will have discovered, this CD by the Joyful Voices unusually contains four songs sung in German. These are originally Scandinavian songs that are partly traditional and partly written by the conductor of the Oslo Gospel Choir, T.W. Aas, and translated into German by Hannelore Mang.
